3 January 2009 The Genesis Block was mined
Block 0, the genesis block,was established at 18:15:05 GMT.
It contained the text: "The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks," perhaps as proof that the block was mined on or after that date, and perhaps also as relevant political commentary. 64 miners mined a significant proportion of the BTC created from Jan. 3, 2009, to Feb. 9 2011, the day BTCs price climbed to USD 1
9 January 2009 Bitcoin Version 0.1 was released, it was made with Microsoft Visual Studio for Windows, there was lack of a command line interface and maybe it was developed by more than one person (or by an academic with little programming experience and a great deal of theoretical know-how). It included a Bitcoin generation system that would create a total of 21 million Bitcoins through the year 2040.

Nakamoto wrote to Hearn "The existing Visa credit card network processes about 15 million Internet purchases per day worldwide,Bitcoin can already scale much larger than that with existing hardware for a fraction of the cost."

12 August 2009 Martti "Sirius" Malmi sold 5050 btc for 5.02 usd
5 October 2009 A Bitcoin exchange rate was established by New Liberty Standard the value of a Bitcoin at USD 1 = 1,309.03 BTC, using an equation that includes the cost of electricity to run a computer that generated Bitcoins.
